The Technology Property Release service ensures that university-owned devices are properly handled for decommissioning or disposal. The OU Help Desk securely erases all data from the device to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with data security policies.

Prerequisites and Expectations
The OU Help Desk will coordinate the pick-up of the computer or printer to be erased and released. The device will be securely erased to ensure all data is permanently removed, protecting any sensitive or confidential information. Once the data has been securely destroyed, the device will be released to the university’s surplus department (GUS) for proper handling.
