NetID Guest and Shared Account Password Reset

Guest Account password resets need to be done by the sponsor of the Guest Account.

Shared Account password resets need to be down by the owner of the Shared Account.

Steps to Resetting a Shared/Guest Account Password

Guest Accounts

  1. Go to https://mysail.oakland.edu/public/dashboard
  2. Once on the MySAIL page select "Log In" near the top right corner
  3. Log In using your NetID and Password, because you are the sponsor of the Guest Account make sure to log in with your own credentials, not the Guest Account credentials.
  4. Once logged in, on the left side of the page under "Tools" select the arrow next to "Account Management" which will provide a drop down menu. Select "Shared and Guest Accounts" This will take you to a page where you can see all the Shared accounts and Guest accounts associated with your NetID.
  5. Select "GUEST" at the top left of the page and it will provide a list of all the Guest accounts that you are the sponsor of.
  6. Under the NetID column look for NetID of the account you want to reset the password for. 
  7. There should be a button to select on the right side of the page that says "RESET PASSWORD" Once selected, a confirmation window will open to confirm that you want to reset the password, if you do then select "RESET PASSWORD"
  8. If the password reset was successful a new window will appear stating that the password was successfully reset with a temporary password. Make sure to copy the temporary password because it will be needed to reset the password. (If the password reset success window is closed before copying the new temporary password Steps 6 and 7 will need to be repeated again.)
  9. Go to https://netid.oakland.edu/ and select the first option "NetID Password Manager" and fill out the required fields. Make sure to paste the temporary password that was copied into the "Current Password" section. Once this is completed the password for the Guest Account should be reset to whatever password you have chosen.

Shared Accounts

  1. Go to https://mysail.oakland.edu/public/dashboard
  2. Once on the MySAIL page select "Log In" near the top right corner
  3. Log In using your NetID and Password, because you are the owner of the Shared Account make sure to log in with your own credentials, not the Shared Account credentials.
  4. Once logged in, on the left side of the page under "Tools" select the arrow next to "Account Management" which will provide a drop down menu. Select "Shared and Guest Accounts" This will take you to a page where you can see all the Shared accounts and Guest accounts associated with your NetID.
  5. Select "SHARED" at the top left of the page and it will provide a list of all the Shared accounts that you are the owner of.
  6. Under the NetID column look for NetID of the account you want to reset the password for. 
  7. There should be a button to select on the right side of the page that says "RESET PASSWORD" Once selected, a confirmation window will open to confirm that you want to reset the password, if you do then select "RESET PASSWORD"
  8. If the password reset was successful a new window will appear stating that the password was successfully reset with a temporary password.
