VPN (GlobalProtect)

This service includes several offerings, such as requesting access to the VPN for authorized use, assistance with installing the GlobalProtect application on your device, and support for troubleshooting and resolving any VPN-related issues.

The GlobalProtect VPN is required for connecting to university resources such as shared drives and Banner from off-campus.

Note: All faculty and staff are granted access to the GlobalProtect VPN by default.

Who is Eligible?

Active staff, faculty, student employees, and 3rd party vendors with a valid NetID account.

Prerequisites and Expectations

The Security Office reviews requests for VPN access to verify eligibility and authorization. Once approved, the user receives a confirmation email that their access is now available.

The OU Help Desk will reach out to the requester to assist with the installation of the GlobalProtect application, upon request.

If a problem is reported, the OU Help Desk will diagnose the issue in cooperation with the requester, utilizing remote troubleshooting or an in-personal appointment. The Help Desk will forward the ticket to an alternative UTS team if advanced issues persist.
