Students currently registered for courses at Oakland University, or staff and faculty traveling abroad, may apply for a loaner laptop. Staff and faculty can check out a laptop for the duration of their international business trip. Students can apply for a loan for the period of one (1) semester at a time. A new application must be submitted each semester that the loan is needed.
Who is Eligible?
Faculty and Staff traveling abroad for business purposes, Students registered for at least one course in the semester of the loan request.
Important Summer and Fall 2026 Dates
Summer 2026: Students who borrowed a laptop for Summer 2026 must return it by August 25, 2026.
Fall 2026: Students who need a laptop for Fall 2026 may submit a request beginning August 20, 2026. Fall loaner laptops may also be picked up beginning on that date.
Prerequisites and Expectations
Staff and faculty requests are automatically approved.
Automatic approval for student requests will be granted for a laptop loan if the following conditions are met:
- Student is registered for the semester
- A laptop is available in inventory
Upon approval, a laptop will be prepared for pickup. The Technology Center will reach out to the requester to schedule a pickup time.
