NetID Change Process

If you have legally changed your name, your NetID and email address can be updated to match your new legal name. Before UTS can process this request, you must first complete the official name change process with the appropriate university office.

Your NetID and email address cannot be changed if your legal name has not been changed.

Step 1: Update Your Legal Name with the University

• Students: Contact the Office of the Registrar
• Faculty and Staff: Contact University Human Resources
• Alumni: Update your information with the Development and Alumni Relations division.

Step 2: Submit a Request to UTS

Once your legal name has been updated in the university's records, submit a request to University Technology Services (UTS) to request the NetID and email change. You can submit the request here: NetID Change Request

Your current NetID and email address will be renamed to match your new legal name based on availability, we will provide you with a few options. All email, contacts, groups, etc. will be retained.
