Exporting Documents From OU-Parchment Application

This page describes how to export documents from the BDM/Xtender application OU_PARCHMENT.

When you export a document, you are really downloading the document from BDM/Xtender to your local machine. Once you have this local copy, you can then upload it to the B-S-ADMN application.

Please note that any Parchment documents containing only one page can still be moved using the Copy/Move function as you normally would. This method applies to multi page documents only.

There are two ways to do this: by selecting multiple documents or by exporting an individual document. We will describe both, starting with multiple document selection.

Multiple Document Export

  • Log in BDM/Xtender as you normally would
  • Navigate to the OU-PARCHMENT application
  • Query the application (in this case I queried all documents)
  • In this example we have three documents: one with 3 pages and two with 2 pages

A digital table lists document IDs with "Parchment Unknown" as their type. Last names—Baker, Bonds, Cuadra—are shown with page numbers 3, 2, and 2.

  • You can select each document by clicking the check box next to each one

A digital query results screen shows three entries with identical numbers, titled "Parchment Unknown," and last names Baker, Bonds, and Cuadra.

  • Once they have been selected, you by click the Export drop down to select your options. From here, you'll want to select "Export Selected Document(s)"

A computer screen displays a query results table with options to open, delete, export, print, and email. Last names include Baker, Bonds, and Cuadra.

  • Once you have selected "Export Selected Document(s)", you will want to be sure the "Use PDF Format" check box is checked (it is by default).

Export Document dialog box with options: Document Content(s) selected, Use PDF Format checked, and buttons for Cancel and Export. Minimalist design.

  • From here you click "Export"
  • At this point the new PDF should launch in Adobe on your machine. In this example our newly created PDF will be 7 pages: the one 3 page document and the two 2 page documents in one PDF, ready for batch upload and indexing. You may save this to a desired location on your machine, but it also should be stored in your Downloads folder.

  • You will also see at least one, and maybe two pop up boxes. These can be closed once the export is complete.

Pop-up window titled "Export Document" with a prompt to right-click a hyperlink to save the file if the download doesn't start in 30 seconds. and maybe A Google Chrome window displaying a blank white page with URL bandoctest.oakland.edu, indicating a loading error or empty content.

  • Log in BDM/Xtender as you normally would
