DNS

The DNS service manages the creation, maintenance, and updating of domain name system records for Oakland University–owned domains. This service ensures that University systems, applications, and websites can be reliably reached by translating human-readable domain names into the IP addresses used by networked devices.

Who is Eligible?

Faculty and Staff with a valid business need involving University-managed domains or networked resources.

Prerequisites and Expectations

  • Requests must be associated with an officially supported University system, service, or project.
  • Requests should include complete technical details (record type, hostname, target, TTL requirements, etc.).
  • Some changes may require review by networking or security teams to ensure proper routing, security, and compliance.

After a request is submitted, the requestor may be contacted for clarification or verification.
