Use this service to request local administrator access on an Oakland University-managed computer. Local admin access is granted on a case-by-case basis to support specific academic, research, or business needs that require administrative rights for software installation, configuration changes, or other advanced tasks.
Who is eligible?
Oakland University faculty and staff with a documented business or academic need.
Prerequisites and Expectations

Requests must include a clear justification explaining why local administrator access is necessary.

Approval is subject to review by University Technology Services and/or departmental leadership.

Users granted local admin rights are responsible for adhering to university IT security policies and best practices.

Local admin access is limited to the specific device(s) identified in the request.

Granting admin access may be temporary and subject to periodic review. Access can be revoked at any time if misuse or security risks are identified.

Users are expected to keep university-provided security software enabled and up-to-date at all times.
