How Do I Install Cisco Jabber?

Prerequisites and Expectations

The Network team will review and provision the Jabber account before software installation can be completed.

The Network team will need the following information to complete your request:

  • The telephone extension(s) that you would like have available on the Jabber client
  • The MAC address of your physical phone (this speeds up the provisioning process but is not absolutely necessary)
  • The type of device that you will be using the Jabber client with: Computer, iPhone/iPad or Android.
    • You may select more than one.

Other things that you should keep in mind:

  • You will not be able to log into or utilize the Jabber Softphone client while connected to either the campus wired or wireless networks
    • This restriction is related to e911 location reporting requirements
  • The VPN (Global Protect) is not required to be used with this application, but for some users it does seem necessary
  • The Jabber softphone client for iPhones/iPads and Android devices can only support 1 extension
