Acquiring Microsoft Project

Overview

This article details the process of acquiring Microsoft Project licenses for users. As Microsoft Project is not included in the standard A1/A5 licensing option provided by University Technology Services, departments need to purchase these licenses using their own funds.

License Information

In order to obtain Microsoft Project, users must acquire the Planner and Project Plan 3 license. This license includes the following:

Pricing and more information regarding this license can be found on Microsoft's website:

Acquiring Licenses

SoftChoice is the only vendor for which the Planner and Project Plan 3 license can be purchased through.

The full steps for acquiring a license is below:

  1. Contact our preferred vendor, SoftChoice and request a quote for a Microsoft Project license. If the request is for multiple users, indicate that in the request for the quote.
  2. Once a representative from SoftChoice, generates the quote, fill out the Technology Review service request form to have the IT Business Operations (ITBO) office review this quote. Ensure the quote from SoftChoice is attached to the form for ITBO to review.
  3. Upon approval from ITBO, purchase the licenses directly through SoftChoice with a P-Card.
  4. After the licenses are purchased, the service-request from ITBO will be re-assigned to the TSS (Technical Support Services) team so that MS Project licenses can be provisioned to your requested users.

Note: It can take up to 2 weeks after the licenses are purchased for them to be able to be provisioned to users.
