HPC Storage

Summary

An explanation of Matilda HPC Cluster storage and how much is provided.

Body

Each user is allocated 50 GB of space for personal data within their accounts home directory, /home/[first letter of NetID]/[NetID]. Home directories are replicated between the North Foundation Hall Data Center and the Dodge Hall Data Center.

  • Quota: 50 GB Per User
  • File Limit: 1 million files per directory
  • Location: /home/[first letter of NetID]/[NetID].
  • Resiliency: Replicated, Backed up, and copied off-site
  • Storage Technology: Dell EMC Isilon
  • Network Connectivity: 10 Gb/s Ethernet

Who is Eligible?

Active Faculty or Staff

Project Space

Project space is mounted at /projects/[principle Investigator NetID]/[Project Name]. Each project is allocated 1 TB or space. Project space is for storage of research data and collaboration on projects. Only users that are part of a Project or Group will have access to Project Space.

  • Quota: 1 TB Per Project
  • File Limit: 1 million files per directory
  • Location: /projects/[Project/Group Name]
  • Resiliency: Replicated, Backed up, and copied off-site
  • Storage Technology: Dell EMC Isilon
  • Network Connectivity: 10 Gb/s Ethernet

Scratch Space

The scratch space is not intended for long-term storage and is not backed up. Files are automatically deleted after 45 days.

User Scratch Space

  • Quota: 10 TB Per Project/2 Million Files Per User
  • Location: /scratch/users/[NetID]
  • Resiliency: Local redundant disks and nodes, No backup, No replication
  • Storage Technology: DDN Lustre
  • Network Connectivity: 100 Gb/s Infiniband

Project Scratch Space

Only users that are part of a Project or Group will have access to Project Space.

  • Quota: 10 TB Per Project/2 Million Files Per Group
  • Location: /scratch/projects/[Group Name]
  • Resiliency: Local redundant disks and nodes, No backup, No replication
  • Storage Technology: DDN Lustre
  • Network Connectivity: 100 Gb/s Infiniband
